Two great books

My good friend Ann has lent me these books. I have read them both. They are excellent and I found them inspirational. The sort of books you can't put down. Has anyone read them? Let me know your thoughts if you have.
Since I stopped working I have started to read voraciously again. I am really enjoying it. I would love to hear about any books that you have enjoyed and would recommend.

I haven't read either of them but will look out for those two.
I seem to enjoy books that are about people who have been through great obstacles in life and come out the other side a stronger person.

Hello Jo
Haven't read the Tuesday book but really enjoyed the Heaven one. In fact I thoroughly enjoyed reading it -all about the fairground and the people who worked/visited there and how their lives were entwined even in death.
Keep saying I'll try to find a copy of the Tueday book - reading your post might just be the incentive I need
Take care
Cathy

I read The Five People you meet in Heaven, and I loved it. My oldest read it too and enjoyed it.

One of the best books I have read in the last few years is: The Life Of Pi. By Yann Martel.
It is really amazing and will take you 'away'.

Hope you are feeling well.
Hugs, Suz

I read "Tuesdays with Morrie" a few years ago and sent it to my mum in England. We both loved it and she passed it along. I haven't read the second one, though I'm an avid reader like you. I'll get it soon.

One book I'd recommend for you, that I loved, would be "The Life of Pi".

I've read 5 people...after it was recommended to me too...a very worthwhile read indeed..I recently read 'A thousand splendid suns' by Khaled Hosseini (of Kite Runner fame)...also highly recommended...

I will have to look out for them, maybe when I run out of housework to do and the novelty of being unemployed wears thin.

The first one is brilliant (on my profile) The second I will look up. Super post by the way, as always.

I am hopeless. I thought I had mentioned number one is on my profile! Keep positive, your attitude is great.

Hello ! I love Windermere and found your blog attracted by the title. I am a great reader and have found Pema Chodron very helpful at difficult times in my life . One of her titles is "when things fall apart ". But there are others , all good .
I hope you will keep writing your inspirational blog- I will be back again .
Best wishes Shelagh

Jo: When I think of books that made me laugh out loud with tears of pure joy I can't go further than Roddy Doyle's "Barrytown Trilogy", i.e. The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van and of course Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Classics imho. Coincidentally another Irish read which warms my heart and makes me laugh out loud is The Mammy by Brendan O'Carroll. Oh and can't forget good old Bill Bryson. Loved his travel books. He is another LOL'er.
hugs and happy reading.:-)
