Thanks very much to one of my favourite bloggers Diane at Diane's Place for sharing this blog award with her fellow bloggers. I always love reading what Diane is making for Sunday dinner. It always sounds delicious and interesting ( and unusual for those of us who live here in the UK-stuff like Mexican Chicken Casserole but made with cheese...). I am drooling so better stop thinking about food.
Part of the deal is to write seven things about yourself that your readers may not know about you...
Here goes:

1. I live in Cumbria but I am very proud to be a Geordie ( ok- so you all knew this).
2. I am a Christian and my faith is very important to me. I have an active role in my Church which is also a central part of my life. I have been going there ( St Mary's in Windermere) for nearly ten years, and have some wonderful friends.
3. One of my very dearest friends lives in Seattle. She met her husband at our millenium party! We visited last year and have booked again this year- hurray.
4. I met the footballer Pele and didn't know who he was, even when he told me. Oops. I was a teenager.......
5. My favourite place in the world ( that I have visited) is Florida. I love the US.
6. I hate rain ( this is no news to my family) so it's odd I live in the Lake District!!
7. I am not very keen on tv- I really can take it or leave it.
8. I really dislike the British soap operas and don't watch any of them.
9. I had cataracts in both eyes at the age of forty.
10. I have never been to New York and it has always been a big goal of mine. This year- I will achieve it!

If you would like to take part, you need to pass the award on, and join in the meme. Enjoy!

Random things about me

I have taken up Polergirl's tag and will write six random things about me.

  1. My favourite place in all the world is Winter Park in North Orlando (picture above).

  2. I studied ancient greek at school.

  3. I once met Pele the footballer and didn't know who he was. The autograph didn't make it any clearer...

  4. My favourite shop is M and S.

  5. I do not have a practical bone in my body: I can't sew, hang curtains, decorate or make things. And what's more...I have no desire to do any of it!
  6. One of my favourite meals is spaghetti carbonara

I would like to tag all lurkers. Come on- let us know something about you!

Pillow Talk

Sigh! Up at all hours - woke up about half two am, hot and increasingly restless. Back in bed with other half after my single bed week in Corbridge so can't put the light on to read for ten minutes, or thrash around like a dervish...so I am up, watching the news about Hurricane Ike, and looking at my blog. Looking at the pictures from Galveston in Texas as the weather gets worse, and all those poor folk trying to get away on blocked roads. It looks awful and I can't imagine how stressful it must be for those affected. I am praying for everyone who is stuck over there in the thick of the storm.

Also watching people stranded by the crash of travel company Excel. What a nightmare, especially the lady who had paid thousands and thousands for her family to go to Disneyland in Orlando, to join her for her wedding. She is so devasted I found it hard to watch. She thinks she has lost everything. There are an estimated 90,000 people stranded all over the world. I wonder what happens to people who don't have the money to get flights back home...mmhh... scarey thought.

Weather here seems to have settled for a while and it is lovely to be able to walk about without rain coats. There are a lot of people here at Windermere for tomorrow's great north swim... apparently over 2000 people are swimming in lake Windermere- mainly for charity. I don't know much about it so need to read up about it tomorrow. Apparently there at a few GB Olympians swimming too.
