I remember Expat Mum posting about lost followers a while ago. I managed to get up to fifty three at one point and now I am back to fifty.
I am very sad.
I wonder what happens to them?
Do they get bored and stop following?
Do they get offended by something and stop following?
Do they stop blogging themselves and disappear off bloggerland, taking their followership with them?
What happens to missing followers?
Do other people lose followers or am I just careless? Maybe I am careless because I don't know who I have lost yet. Better go and figure it out................

Jo, with 50 followers you shouldn't be sad. That is a lot of interested people. Maybe some do what I do.
I have you on my "blogroll" so that I, and others, can see what you are posting without having to to go to the dashboard to find out. I read you every day, but don't appear as a "follower".
For some reason "follower" reminds me of sheep.
I lost one too...am devastated! I wonder why?
we just blogged about almost the same thing. how weird is that?
;-)
I can understand that often times one doesn't check some blogs for a period of time, for one reason or another, but I'm surprised that followers actually take themselves off the list. Not that I know much about it as I've only been aware of the followers facility for a couple of weeks.
Perhaps if you invited all the defectors over for a nice cup of tea in beautiful Windermere, they would come back......LOL. I'd come anyway - and I'm still here!
I have not lost any, but I sure do seem to catch the eyes of some weirdos that I end up 'blocking.'
Were these folks leaving comments? Were you visiting their blogs?
perhaps they just deleted their blog and moved on....
Oh, it happens to all of us, Jo. Last week I had 76 followers. Then suddenly it was down to 75. I didn't try to figure out who left. It would take too long. But suddenly the other day I noticed I'm back to 76. Someone new became a follower.
Actually, I haven't been in the mood to post anything lately and think I may drop out until Fall. We'll see.
Don't be sad. Just be yourself, and enjoy yourself. And thank you for the friend request on Facebook.
Happy weekend!
Renie
It's even worse when you get Unfriended on Facebook!
Hi Jo,
To be honest...although it is great to have "followers" I don't pay too much notice of the number. I'm more interested in the quality of the writing of the blogger. (Love yours BTW.)
Some great bloggers have not very many followers and some others...loads...and....(I am not saying that ones with loads are rubbish but you get my drift?)
Enjoy your own blog and writing. That's what counts!
I was also beating myself up that I cannot get round everyone's blog to leave a comment frequently but am learning to live with what I actually can do.
I think a lot of people just start out with enthusiasm but can't stick with it, so they give up.Sometimes they sign up for too many as followers and can't keep up with it. I've been blogging for about two years. Sometimes I just hit a dry spot. I usually think hard before signing up as a follower because I guess I feel obligated to comment if I'm a follower, and you can only do so much commenting in a day or a week.
I came to look at your blog from Granny on the web and I love the Lake District. We spent our honeymoon there (1959!)
I know I'm a bit thick, but how do I know/measure who are my followers!
