I am off to Corbridge again today, folks. I will be there until Friday working in County Durham. Mum and I have taken a little cottage in the middle of the village centre. She can potter round the village ( there is plenty to do) while I whizz off to work during the day. In the evening we can drink wine and chat about the day. It means I don't have a lot of commuting to do back and forth from here ( especially in this weather) and I have company in the evenings ( someone to rant and rave at about the day- mum is a great audience and a good listener).
I am not sure how much internet access I will have. I will be darting into wi-fi access coffee lounges when I can to check work stuff, but won't have a lot of time to blog. I might be even be called a 'blog-slacker', which is a great new term I got from my friend TM who I know from university!
I think you might find me in the above pub most evenings or in the lovely Valley indian restaurant ( see earlier listing for link) - see you there!

Hello Jo, It's so nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting me in Hawaii. I hope that you'll be able to visit for real someday. I have always loved England ever since I discovered the Beatles and Jane Austen. We did go to England more than a decade ago on our first overseas trip with the kids. We LOVED it.

Another Hello Jo-from the states!
Nice to chat with you. My 'mum' lives with me. She will be 97 in November. And she is 'pretty good for an old bird'[her words!].
What path led you to my blog?Hope that your week goes well, and that your mom enjoys browsing around the shops. TTFN
I know it won't be much of a break for you as you'll be working, but a change is as good as a rest. And nice to have your mum along for some company.
enjoy your week away.....

It is lovely to get all these comments- I really appreciate it. Its lovely to hear that folk enjoy it when they visit England ( and Great Britain) but the reality is that a lot of people are disenchanted and miserable with the way the country is going and want to escape altogether. Obviously the gloomy economic headlines and weather aren't helping!
I suppose the grass is greener on the other side!
I must admit I would still love a house in Florida!!
Other half and I have a dream of touring the US one day when we have tons of time and money.
Seattle hopefully for us next year - very exciting!
Hi. Glad the cottage worked out! To end up with rubbish accommodation is simply not on...and decent coffee in McDonald's? I am amazed. Herding Hill Bistro Cafe at the top of Shield Hill in Haltwhistle (just off A69) do whizz bang coffee. Well and truly recommended. Not sure about wi-fi access though. That's asking a lot from us when we've just got some decent coffee out here...
